Óbidos is Portugal’s Literary Town. Narrow cobblestone streets are lined with whitewashed houses supporting terracotta roofs and a XII century medieval wall surrounds the village and the castle. Churches, shops, markets, every corner in Óbidos is piled with books.
This publishing house developed out of the samizdat production of works of philosophy and theology associated with Ladislav Hejdánek. The house’s mission is the publication of critical articles and works related to the best traditions of European philosophy and theology. Also publishes the magazine Reflexe.
Our range of audiobooks comprises of works by contemporary writers, but also modern classics and playful stories for children. We don´t see audiobook as mere re-reading of the book, but as an interpretation art with its own atmosphere created by quality sound work and original music.
Agency, specializing in Central and Eastern Europe, represents British, American and EU publishers and University Presses (mostly non-fiction, popular science, academic titles) but also children’s books.
